How-To "WAV Ring-Tone Guide"

<< Another method to get WAV Ringtones (real tones)>>

1. Open lwire if you have that, any software that can find wavs will work.

2. Install & configure your initial settings (if you download something else)...

3. click to search for "AUDIO" ...

4. enter keywords  "song name+WAV" into the search box. Or you can enter "Artist+WAV" or "Album Name+WAV"

5. Make sure to ONLY download wav files only UNDER 900 KB* - if the wav file is larger than 900 KB in size (say 1-5 MB), then you may need to format it (see below)...But try shortening it first...

-----

Note*: if the WAV file is longer than 1mb, try shortening it to under 10-20 seconds> This should be enough to allow it to upload and avoid formatting.

A. to shorten, open the wav file with Microsofts Sound Recorder, this is the default player for wav files.

B. Then play the wav, stop it where you want to cut the song from...

C. After the song is stopped, you go to "EDIT"  >> "DELETE BEFORE CURRENT POSITION" OR "DELETE AFTER CURRENT POSITION"

D. This will cut the song off where you choose and then click "file" > "save as" and your new shortened wav is ready to be uploaded.

If this method works, you do not need to format, if the file will not upload, you may need to format the wav, see below...

-----

* To Format *

1. Open 'Cool Edit Pro'

2. Right Click on the WAV song file & click "OPEN WITH COOL EDIT PRO"

3. The song will open...HIT "F11" on your keyboard... This will bring up the wav editing properties. Change the sample rate to 8000. Then change the Channels to "mono". Next change the Resolution to 8 bit. Then if you'd like you can make a sort of template for this configuration by putting in a file name up top and picking "Save As". This is useful for the next time that you change the properties of a wav so that you just hit enter instead of changing anything. Hit "Ok" once you have changed the properties and Cool Edit will change the file.

3. Now go to "File"-->"Save As" and change the file name to something less than 17 letters and in the SAVE AS>TYPE drop box, select WINDOWS PCM (*.wav).

Done.
